It continues to be a difficult year for the Salvation Army, and other providers of critical services, and it is critical that we start planning our annual Bell Ringing project now so that we are staffed and ready to ring-n-ding at Tops during this Holiday season. So .... please review the schedule, which can be found on ourWEBSITE by going the the Site Pages on the left side of the Home page, or CLICK HEREIf you have not yet had an opportunity to sign-up for a time slot, contact John Moran at 315-685-8440 [home] or 315-256-5163 [cell]. Feel free to leave a message about your desired time if he does not pick up. Or e-mail him john.moran46@aol.com. John will confirm all assignments.
A wonderful project that supports those in our community in need .... and .... to meet and greet your Skaneateles friends, while providing Service Above Self in our community.
SRC Holiday Basket ..
we NEED Your Help... by Lee
We kicked off the virtual holiday gift basket fundraiser at our last meeting, November 18th, and we promised to share the details. Read on to find out WHY we need you and HOW you can help.
At our meeting, Jacque McConnaghy from the Outreach office talked about the needs in our own community and told how the food pantries and the Outreach office rely on the money we raise.
Our fundraising helps put food on the tables of families over the holidays and beyond.
We help parents put gifts under the tree.
When teachers notice a child without boots or snow pants, they call the Outreach office and our funds keep that child warm.
The funds also help with electric bills, heating bills, and “extras” that some families can’t afford (like sports equipment, or the fee to take an AP test to get college credit for and advanced class).
Last year’s virtual fundraiser raised $20,000 – more than any other year.
Here are the ways you can help:
Make your own donation. Ward Vuillemot has set us up with Club Runner as an easy and secure way to donate online. As always, checks are welcome, made payable to Skaneateles Rotary Foundation (see below).
Consider “hosting a table” ($250 for eight people, or any amount you are comfortable with doing) and asking your “tablemates” or friends to donate to the cause as well. (We will send you sample emails/letters/speeches you might use to inspire others).
Simply share details about our fundraiser with family and friends via FB, email, flyer, or phone call. Spread the word! Ask others to give to this worthy local cause.
Donate on line by going toskaneatelesrotary.com .. or.. write checks to: Skaneateles Rotary Foundation, and mail to: Skaneateles Rotary Club, P.O. Box 316, Skaneateles, NY 13152.
