There was No Meeting as we celebrated our country's birthday with family and friends over the 4th weekend.
WHY ARE WE ROTARIANS..... by Prez Terry
Why are we Rotarians? Our replies are varied and driven by what motivates us. Addressing the needs of Rotary members is a talent and during this past year, it proved to be an unanticipated challenge. What is clear is the example of steward leadership demonstrated by President David Lee to help our Skaneateles Club navigate the uncharted path of Covid-19. Consider what was accomplished: record setting virtual pancake breakfast; Christmas fundraiser; new members; and Zoom/hybrid meeting formats. As we now begin to exit the Covid tunnel, we acknowledge Dave’s talent navigating us to a stronger place. It is equally important to recognize the loss in momentum that occurred when the pandemic isolation was required. Our newly created social “happy hours” were suspended and our ability to serve the community in-person was curtailed. Regrettably, we missed seeing some of our member-friends who were unfamiliar or just uncomfortable with Zoom. Simply recognizing these Rotary activities is the first step in addressing community and our members’ needs. I am excited about our Rotary year 2021-22; we have much to do to continue what Dave began and we are well positioned to follow his example of service above self.
RI 2021-22 Theme "Serve to Change Lives"
RI President, Shekhar Mehta, a member of the Rotary Club of Calcutta-Mahanagar, West Bengal, India, revealed the 2021-22 presidential theme, Serve to Change Lives, at the virtual Rotary International Assembly earlier this year. He urged district governors-elect to become more involved in service projects, saying that caring for and serving others is the best way to live because it changes not only other people’s lives, but also our own. District 7150 Guidance- Holding Rotary Club Meetings and Events starting July 1, 2021
*** This is not District Policy. It is suggestive and being offered to provide guidance for conducting club meetings and events after July 1, 2021.
Here are General Principles from Rotary International regarding Meetings and Events:
The health and safety of all participants in Rotary programs, meetings, and events is very important.
All organizers of Rotary meetings and events shall fully comply with all health and safety rules in effect in that location.
No in-person Rotary meeting or event shall be mandatory for any participant who may feel uncomfortable attending because of the pandemic.
All organizers of Rotary meetings and events are strongly encouraged to consider all health concerns in deciding whether to hold in-person meetings.
Event and meeting organizers are encouraged to offer hybrid solutions.
Members should feel comfortable to wear masks and social distance while attending in-person meetings or events. Some might prefer not to hug or shake hands.
Further, it is a recommendation, not a requirement, that Rotarians do not attend meetings and events in-person if not vaccinated.
