LAST WEEK -July 15th, 2021 ... by Bill Conole
Membership/Attendance: 49 Active members - 7 attending
Guests: John Buterbaugh (Bill's son), Josh Rathgeb, Jessie Boyce, Paul & Betty Barrus (Auburn Club) & John Rooney (SSR Club)
The Program: Seven Rotarians & guests went to nearby beautiful Falcon Park to enjoy our national pastime in a game between the Auburn Doubledays & the Utica Blue Sox. Both teams’ rosters were studded with local star college baseball players & star players from colleges across the America. In winning an exciting 5-1 game Auburn maintained it’s first place standing in the league over a talented Utica Team. For those who love baseball or for those who just enjoy a summer evening relaxing watching young players compete & strive to improve so they have a shot at the major leagues, it was a most enjoyable evening. This past year the major leagues abruptly & arbitrarily discontinued sponsoring about seventy minor league teams. Because of this the Auburn Doubledays are fighting for their survival and need our support. So, please if you have a chance in the next two weeks, go to Falcon Park for an inexpensive night watching very talented young college players giving their all to attain their dreams of playing major league ball.
Valarie Wafer
RI Vice-President 2021/22
Valarie K. Wafer retired in 2017 after a 27-year career at Tim Hortons, one of Canada’s iconic restaurant brands. In addition to owning six franchises in Toronto, Wafer worked at the corporate office as a financial accountant. Wafer’s restaurant operations were widely recognized for their inclusive hiring practices, particularly the employment of people with disabilities. “Rotary clubs are like our franchises in the community — innovation happens at the grassroots level,” Wafer says. “When you are inclusive and innovate, people come, and when they identify with you, they are likely to stay.” READ MORE

Bill continues to seek our help to continue with this effort. Look about your busy and exciting world to find folks that have an interesting life, profession, business or a community or world experience that would make an interesting program and you would like to share with others.
Pass these ideas, along with contact names and information to Bill C.so that he may arrange to fit it into our weekly programs schedule. It's a interesting & exciting world out there ..... let's share it!.

District 7150 Guidance- Holding Rotary Club Meetings and Events starting July 1, 2021
*** This is not District Policy. It is suggestive and being offered to provide guidance for conducting club meetings and events after July 1, 2021.
Here are General Principles from Rotary International regarding Meetings and Events:
The health and safety of all participants in Rotary programs, meetings, and events is very important.
All organizers of Rotary meetings and events shall fully comply with all health and safety rules in effect in that location.
No in-person Rotary meeting or event shall be mandatory for any participant who may feel uncomfortable attending because of the pandemic.
All organizers of Rotary meetings and events are strongly encouraged to consider all health concerns in deciding whether to hold in-person meetings.
Event and meeting organizers are encouraged to offer hybrid solutions.
Members should feel comfortable to wear masks and social distance while attending in-person meetings or events. Some might prefer not to hug or shake hands.
Further, it is a recommendation, not a requirement, that Rotarians do not attend meetings and events in-person if not vaccinated.
