As of late last week, our Holiday Basket Fundraiser was just over $4,000 with only nine Rotarians giving (and generous community members pitching in). If we ALL JOIN IN, we will reach our in-person high of $13,000 – and maybe even reach last year’s virtual record breaker of $20,000.
Local food pantries and the Skaneateles Outreach office are counting on us again this year to:
Help put food on the tables of families over the holidays and beyond.
Help parents put gifts under the tree.
Support teachers who notice children without boots or snow pants.
Assist senior citizens and others who need help with electric bills, heating bills, and “extras” that some families can’t afford (such as the fee to take an AP test to get college credit for and advanced class).
Donate on line by going to skaneatelesrotary.com .. or. write checks to: Skaneateles Rotary Foundation, and mail to: Skaneateles Rotary Club, P.O. Box 316, Skaneateles, NY 13152
And please multiply the good by sharing this information with your friends and neighbors who care about Skaneateles!
LAST WEEK
Dec 2, 2021 - General Meeting ... by Mary
Membership/Attendance: 45 Active members- 19 Members Attending
Guests:Patti Langley, John Buterbaugh & June Vuillemot
The Beginnings:Past President Mary led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and the following announcements were made.
> Holiday 2021 virtual Holiday Basket update was reviewed by Lee Bennett.
> Bell Ringing Schedule was reviewed by John and signup sheet passed around.
The Program:Ward spoke passionately about his decades of Rotary experience. When Ward became a member of Rotary tradition was closely followed with head tables at meetings, suits and ties, strict membership classification and no women! Needless to say, Rotary has evolved and Ward said that it has been "for the better".
Ward has travelled all over the world and incorporated attendance at Rotary meetings during his travels. He spoke of his adventures meeting new friends and picking up new ideas. In his travels Ward also found out how small the world can be, meeting people across the globe that knew of Central NY and Skaneateles. Ward's experiences show us that Rotary is truly a global community offering us the opportunity to meet new friends, learn, and as Ward likes to add to the Four Way Test "have fun!" Thanks to Ward for his inspiring stories!
The Endings - Ed Evans led us in the Four Way Test
