The Program- Butterfly Way Stations & Pollinator Gardens
Ward introduced Hal Brown, fellow Tully Rotarian, Skaneateles neighbor and nature enthusiast. Hal told us about Butterfly Way Stations and Pollinator Gardens which provide food, shelter and water for local and migratory butterflies. We have one in our very own Austin Park! It was established in 2019 and Hal showed us a picture of it flourishing in 2021. Erin Brown, Hal's daughter and Skaneateles elementary school teacher for over 20 years. told us about the Way Station at State Street Elementary School. She talked about engaging children in supporting nature and how her students were able to see the development of a Monarch butterfly and its first flight through remote learning. Hal told us that the Town Parks Department is interested in having another Way Station at the Conservation Area. That gives us some food for thought for a service project! Information about projects can be found at:https://monarchwatch.org.

The Ending Member recited the Four Way Test and the Zoom portion of the meeting ended.
