Holiday Basket Virtual Fundraiser
Help Rotary spread holiday cheer here at home
Giving is more important than ever this year
For more than a decade, the community has joined with us to help provide holiday cheer for local families in need.
This year, the pandemic has changed HOW we do this, but it hasn’t changed the WHY. In fact, it has increased the WHY due to additional economic hardships.
In replacement of the annual Rotary Holiday Basket Fundraising event, we are raising funds virtually – by asking our friends and community members for help.
This year’s funds will be, as always, divided between the Skaneateles Food Pantry, the Spafford Food Pantry, and Skaneateles Outreach to help more than 100 families.
write a check to: Skaneateles Rotary Foundation, and mail to:
Skaneateles Rotary Club, P.O. Box 316, Skaneateles, NY 13152
Project deadline is Dec. 18, 2020 - so that the funds get to those in need in time for the Holidays.
A Little Note Says it All ... by Ward
Once in while we may question just how much of a difference our community service projects make. Well, if you wondered about our 10 years of providing dictionaries to the 3rd grade classes at the State Street School, this sweet little note says it all. Kinda tugs at the ole heart strings and energizes us to do it again next year.
2020 RING THE BELL ... by Ward

Ring the Bell Schedule is being compiled by John Moran. (see notice above) There are still quite a few slots to fill. Craig suggested that bell ringers may want to move the kettle outside during their shift, weather permitting.
Meeting Schedule was reviewed for the next few weeks. No meeting on the 26th due to Thanksgiving. Future meetings will be Zoom format until further notice. December 3rd will feature Julie Keenan Abbot, County Legislator, who will brief us on Onondaga County COVID issues. December 10th will feature John Tumino who will tell us about In My Father's Kitchen, a Syracuse organization with outreach to the homeless.
The Program Tyler warmly inducted Ayham Boucher into the club. Ayham has already jumped in feet first to help with club technology issues. Members enthusiastically welcomed Ayham. We look forward to a future meeting where we can meet Ayham in person and Tyler can present his plaque and pin. Ayham thanked members for their warm welcome, also saying that he was looking forward to meeting everyone in person.
Roberta briefed the club on our "Holiday Basket Virtual Fundraiser." Regretfully, due to the pandemic, we are not able to have our traditional turkey dinner and raffle. Club members are asked to virtually sponsor a table and invite friends, family and neighbors to paritcipate. The website is up and running. Lee and Lori are putting communication pieces together that can be shared either by email or snail mail. Club members are also asked to share the Club's Facebook posting. Proceeds will be donated to the Spafford and Skaneateles Food Pantries and Skaneateles Outreach. President Dave thanked the committee for all of their hard work.
The Endings - Everyone wished each other a happy and healthy Thanksgiving!
