The District Assembly ... from the ABCs of Rotary
In view of the annual turnover of Rotary leadership each year, special effort is required to provide the 33,000+ club leaders with appropriate instruction for the tasks they will assume. The annual district assembly is the major leadership-training event in each of the 532 Rotary districts of the world.
The district assembly offers motivation, inspiration, Rotary information and new ideas for club officers, directors and key committee chairmen of each club. Some of the most experienced district leaders conduct informative discussions on all phases of Rotary administration and service projects. The assembly gives all participants valuable new ideas to make their club more effective and interesting. Usually eight to ten delegates from each club are invited to attend the training session.
Another important feature of a district assembly is a review by the incoming district governor of the program theme and emphasis of the new R.l. president for the coming year. District goals and objects are also described and plans are developed for their implementation. The success of each Rotary club is frequently determined by the club's full representation and participation in the annual district assembly.

Bartek Narwasinski, Exchange Student, spoke about his homeland, Poland. Bartek opened his presentation by giving a brief history of Poland. In 1750 Poland was one of the largest & one of the most vibrant countries in Europe. As a result of ruinous wars Poland became the country that “disappeared”. For 123 years Poland ceased to exist as a county. When Poland was reformed after WW1 it suffered horribly at the hands of the Nazi’s & the Russians. In spite of their centuries of troubles, the Poles remain a great people. Bartek described his beautiful home town near the Czech border. Bartek said everybody loves Polish food. With it’s coast, it’s many lakes & it’s mountains, Poland is a land of great natural beauty. Bartek showed pictures of his family. Bartek’s twin brother is also a Rotary exchange student. Bartek played varsity basketball on this year’s very good SCHS Basketball team. Barek’s favorite subject is physics. Bartek thanked all three of his host families & thanked the Skaneateles Rotary Club for giving him the opportunity to come to the US.

Auburn Rotary Club 100th Anniversary - The Auburn Rotary Club is to celebrate its 100th Anniversay on Sunday, April 12th. Cocktails 3:00 pm, Dinner 4:00 pm at the Springside Inn, Auburn. $35 per person - cash bar. RSVP by April 1st - Alan Dungey @ 283-3949 or Paul Barrus @ 237-7859. Of note - Auburn RC sponsored the Skaneateles RC in 1927, so that this a special occasion for Skantarians as well.

Apr 11, 2015 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM Incoming club officers, committee chairs and other interested Rotarians are encouraged to attend. There will be discussion and workshops to bring you up to date on current and future District and Rotary operations, events and projects. There is no cost to attend.
