LAST MEETING, February 6, 2025 ….by Mary Giroux
THE BEGINNING: Andy Stevens led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. ANNNOUNCEMENTS:
> Next Week: Happy Hour at the Legion at 5:30 hosted by Mary G and Bill B.
>Board Meeting: Next BOD meeting will be March 20th
>Speakers Needed: Speakers are needed for the regular meetings in mid April and following months. Please reach out to Bill Buterbaugh or Bill Conole if you know of anyone interested.
>Service Projects: Build-a-Bed will be Saturday, February 15th at the Auburn Finger Lakes Mall. Show up at 9:30 to assemble beds for kids. May 3rd will be serving lunch at the Samaritan Center and May 17th will be our annual food drive. Please mark your calendars.
> Heavy Lifters: Mary thanked Ed, Larry and Conner for unloading 3,560 pounds of food for the Skaneateles Food Pantry. They are so strong they must be eating their spinach like Popeye!!
> Thank You: Thank you to the Sherwood staff for hosting our meetings!
THE PROGRAM: Frank Moses, Director of the Skaneateles Lake Association gave a great update on Skaneateles Lake Association's programs, progress and plans. Frank talked about the threats to our beautiful lake: chemicals, invasive species and excessive nutrient loading. Many actions are being taken to control these threats and lots of collaboration is happening with other organizations, government and private citizens. Some examples are land management, milfoil control, hemlock protection, and inspections of boats at loading ramps. Frank's presentation included a number of very informative graphics helping us to understand the issues. Information may be found at skaneateleslake.org. Thanks to Frank for the work that he and the Association do to preserve the qualities of our lake.
>50-50: Ed won the 50-50 again but alas, did not draw the Queen of Hearts. The pot has grown to $50.
THE ENDING: Bill C led us in the (Four + one) Five Way Test
New Facebook Page for CNY Rotary!
President Lizzy Martin sent a message saying the main CNY Rotary Facebook page was shut down by Facebook so everything has been moved to a new group called CNY Rotary News Network. Please check out the new facebook page! This is where everything from the news network, leadership team, and events are shared.

The Club has brand new Facebook + Instagram pages. You can Google Skaneateles Rotary Facebook to find it. Be sure to check it out, like it and share it with your friends!
