COUNTING DOWN OF PANCAKES & Tasks Schedule - While the annual Fathers Day Pancake Breakfast is but month away, it is time to save the date on our calendars. Fathers Day this year is June 18th, so please mark that date in ink on your calendar, as well as the Friday AM and Saturday AM before for set-up, and Monday AM afterwards for tear down. This year will mark our 49th consecutive year holding our Club's biggest fund raising event, and we need every Rotarian to participate to insure its continued success!
Greetings, Skantarians! Thank you all for turning out at our alternate venue for an evening of good cheer. We had the added joy of greeting Skip Plank on his return from points south; Skip is never without a smile and he regaled us with descriptions of the Rotary Clubs he partakes of in Maryland - maybe there's a good idea or two we adopt from them. Welcome back, Skip! Our next meeting promises to be very significant - we will be inducting several new members and kicking off preparations for one of our signature events - the Pancake Breakfast! The Beginnings - Twenty Rotary Club members gathered in the Finger Lakes on Tap to kick back, relax & make a few toasts to Spring. Everyone welcomed Skip Plank back from Maryland's Eastern Shore.
Bottle Stoppers - Gary Ozminkowski won a beautiful handcrafted wine stopper by recognizing & reporting the "reader draw". Ward reported that he is nearing his new goal of $4,000 by selling his handcrafted wine stoppers & donating all of the proceeds to eliminate Polio.
President's Comments - President Bill gave a brief report on the recent District 7150 Conference & congratulated Ward on the Rotary Lifetime Achievement Award he received in the conference. Everyone enjyed the excellent sandwiches & a lot of good conversation.

Rotarian Rummage Sales Generate more than $60 million in 60 years... from RI News
For the past 60 years, the Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island in Washington, has held an annual auction and rummage sale that raised more than $7 million.
The long-term success of the auction has made it a cultural event. Proceeds of the event help almost every corner of their community, including feeding the hungry through the local food bank, buying cribs for infants in need, funding a school robotics program and helping seniors with dental care,
Robin Goldston, director of the Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island, says the rummage sale has been a sustainable success (it raised more than $550,000 in 6 hours last year) because it has become a valued part of the community.
Most residents plan their donations all year, 100% of proceeds are invested in the town, and more than 1,400 local people volunteer each year, Goldston says. “As our sale has been an annual event since the 1950s,” says Goldston. “The local community now mostly plans its donations in advance.”
