PRESIDENTS' CORNER ... by Pres., Mary Giroux
Who knew that you could borrow so many things from a library?  It was great to hear from Nicki and Danette about all of the great services offered to our community. The diversity of programs provided by the Skaneateles Library, from tech help, movies, book club, cooking events, special interest backpack kits, lectures on timely topics, and many more, offers something to just about everyone in the community.  So, if you find yourself looking for something to do on a rainy day check out the library!
Enjoy your weekend and see you on Thursday!

The Beginnings:
Club 200 Fund Raiser - Cheryl briefly outlined her plans to initiate this year’s fundraiser. Cheryl wants to sell 200 tickets at $20 each to members. There will be multiple chances to win when the tickets are drawn. (see notice below)
Baltimore Woods –Dale Drake invited everyone to a Baltimore Woods Family Fun fundraiser on August 20th. Games & activities for all ages are planned.
Youth Exchange Welcome Home Dinner- Ward described the YE dinner held on Wednesday evening for our returning students from their year abroad.. Each of the 17 returning student spoke of their impressions and experiences of the year they spent in foreign lands.
The Program:
Skaneateles Library - Library Board member Danette Davis enthusiastically opened her presentation by describing our library’s recent activities. These activities include special educational shows for children & for adults. As we’ve moved into the digital age libraries have changed from all books & printed material to computers & digital devices.. The library conducts several computer courses & is ready & willing to help individuals become more computer literate. Today’s libraries are rapidly gearing up to incorporate technology into their efforts to help our community to more effectively seek knowledge. Digital learning is here & our libraries are becoming well equipped to meet the challenges of digital leaning. Nicki Marquis described the library’s coming events. Nicki & Danette invited everyone to participate in this year’s “One for the Books” fundraiser on October 14, 2017. In recent years these educational fund raisers have been very enjoyable & very successful. Nicki urged members to register early for this event so they can discuss a book of their choice.
50/50 - Was won by Dale DrakeTo everybody's frustration, the queen of spades remains hidden the the deck.

ANNOUNCING - CLUB 200 FUND RAISER
200 Tickets at $20 each are be sold to members, friends & neighbors between now and October when 10 tickets (2 per week) will be drawn weekly with the winners receiving $50 each.  The winning tickets will be recycled into the draw-bin for drawings the following weeks.   So ..... multiple chances to win on a single ticket.
The whole event ends on Nov 16th, with two tickets will be drawn for $250 & $500.  The $200 draw dates are:  Oct. 5, 12, 19, 26 & Nov 2, and the $250 & $500 tickets will be drawn on Nov 16.
Cheryl Silvestrini will have the tickets for sale over August & September.   Do not miss out on this opprotrunity  as it is limited to 200 tickets.
This is fun way for our Club to raise up $2,750 to use for worthy causes throughout the year.  We can only make the maximum amount ($2750) if ALL 200 tickets are sold.  The key is for ALL members to participate in selling (and buying) tickets.
