>Nov 8, 2025: Service Project - Finger Lakes SPCA Food Drive at Tops, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
General Schedule - for meetings - see notices below
Front Desk Duty!!!
Gard and Gary are the scheduled front desk members for our next club meeting on Nov 6th. Remember that if you will not be able to attend the meeting you are scheduled for it is your responsibility to find a replacement.
Last Meeting: Oct 30, 2025
The Beginning: President Andy led us in the Pledge and started off the meeting with the induction of our newest member.
New Member Induction: Jeff LaMarca was inducted into Rotary. Rosemary introduced Jeff into the Rotary and described him as outdoorsey. If you see someone around town kayaking on the beautiful lake in January or biking to work in the snow on County Line Road, it is most likely Jeff. Welcome to the Rotary, Jeff! We are so happy to have you!
The Club Assembly: Andy gave a great presentation to start off the Club Assembly. He had members contemplate "Why did we join and How is it going? Can we make it better?" He reviewed the main club functions which involve donating to worthy causes, raising funds, service projects, the youth exchange program, and international projects. He had members broken up into tables of four people to discuss the aforementioned topics. Andy will send an email summarizing every group's comments and suggestions.
Announcements:
Rotary Calender: Bill B handed out the Rotary Calender of meetings and service projects to members. There are still open spots available to host happy hours starting in January. Speakers are also still needed beginning February 19th. Please reach out to Bill if you are able to help host a happy hour or know of a speaker. Also, save the date for the Holiday Party which will be December 18th.
Pet Food Drive Service Project: There is a service project on November 8th that will be taking place at the Tops parking lot from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. This service project helps the Finger Lakes SPCA. Two members are needed at the tent for one hour increments, so reach out to Corey if you are able to help. Also, please bring a large bag of good quality dog and/or cat food if you are able too and be sure to hand out the flyer to your neighbors, etc.
Holiday Basket Dinner: The annual dinner at the Skaneateles Country Club will take place on Thursday, December 11th and carving turkeys will be coming back this year! If that does not entice you enough, other deliciious foods at the dinner will include mashed potatoes, acorn squash, salad, and a cranberry pear pie. The cost will be $50 per person and checks can be sent to Jay. Be sure to make checks payable to the Skaneateles Rotary Foundation. Table reservations can include 8, 10, or 12 people, so please send this information to Craig.
Wrexham A.F.C.: Rosemary discussed there is a trip currently being planned to see the Wrexham Games in England to support the Allyn Family. Signing up for this ends in December and will max out at 20 people. There are two games, one game will be home and one is away. Reach out to Rosemary if you are interesed or would like more information.
Books for the World: Gary explained how Books for the World works, which is a Rotary run organization. He waits to hear when the Skaneateles Library and the local schools have books they would like to donate, then he usually needs 5-6 people to pack books in special boxes. These books then get sent to a storage area until they have 24 boxes on a pallet. Once this happens, books get sent to a Syracuse storage area until they have 25 pallets of books. These books get sent to Houston before being sent overseas to Africa, Phillipines, etc. The Rotary Club in these areas then distrubutes the books to children. There are 25 Rotary Clubs active for Books of the World.
Meeting Next Week: The speaker will be Elsa Soderburg who is the founder and director of Rescue Me Ranch Foundation. There will also be a Board meeting at 5:00 pm.
Board Seats Available: There are currently two board seats available and if anyone is interested in becoming Club Secretary or Executive Secretary, please reach out to Andy.
50-50: There was no raffle at the meeting this week.
Five Way Test: The meeting ended with the Five Way Test
The Skaneateles Food Pantry can use some help! One of the items the Pantry always needs is breakfast cereal so we're asking that members bring a box of cereal to each club meeting. It's an item that flies off the shelves each week so your help with this would be greatly appreciated. And, thanks to club members for this week's donations which stocked the shelves!
President Lizzy Martin sent a message saying the main CNY Rotary Facebook page was shut down by Facebook so everything has been moved to a new group called CNY Rotary News Network. Please check out the new facebook page! This is where everything from the news network, leadership team, and events are shared.
