The Beginings:
Doug Powell opened the meeting by welcoming our guests, Sandy Frackenpohl and Mayor Martin Hubbard. Doug thanked the club for all of their support during his term citing Ward Vuillemot as being especially helpful to him. Her also thanked Cheryl Silvestrini and Mary Giroux for taking over the reigns as he and Cathy move to their new home in Houston. Ward presented Doug with a especially made bottle stopper and Cheryl presented Doug and Cathy with a pair of Rotary engraved wine glasses. MAKING UP... by Ward Vuillemot
Making-up in Rotary-talk, is not about making-up with a lost friend, is about visiting other Rotary clubs in your immediate area, or in other parts of the country, or in the world as you travel for pleasure or business. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet many interesting Rotarians and to make new lasting acquaintances, and glean new and interesting ideas for projects to bring back to our club. I have traveled to many places in our world in my professional life and as a tourist, and have visited Rotary clubs on those trips when ever the opportunity has been available. As a result, I have life long friends around the world. During my business travels, I seldom spent a weekend alone camped out in a lonely hotel room as my new found Rotary friends shared the part of the world with me, and I have learned more about Rotary and it many wonderful works than I could in a lifetime of local club meetings. Try it, you'll like it.
The home page of the Rotary International website at: https://www.rotary.org/en has a link at the top of the page entitled Club Finder. Simply click on it an follow the simple instructions and you can locate any one of the over 33,000 Rotary clubs in our world, along with their meeting location, day of the week and time. There is even an apt for your smart phone to find a Rotary club.
Don't leave on a trip without exploring this option. Remember to carry one of our club banners to trade. See our club president for one prior to leaving.
Attendance Make-up. These visits also count toward you club attendance requirements. Should you have a question as to how to report the visit as a Make-up, please check out our website home page under Site Pages (on left side of the page) and click on Attendance Make-up procedure. CLICK-HEREof a quick link there to the procedures.
Remember to report your “make ups” to Ward Vuillemot ASAP. You can email him at wardtv37@mac.com It is important to report the date,
Now, step out of your Rotary comfort zone and Make Up and discover the wide world of Rotary.
