PRESIDENTS' CORNER ... by Pres., Mary Giroux
Rotarians making a difference.......Let's support Polo for Preemies, a cause obviously near and dear to Chris Cheney's heart!  The NICU at Crouse is a dedicated group of professionals taking care of our tiniest and most fragile fellow Americans.  And, on a more global basis, Books for the World, a program Ward has been instrumental in developing over the years.  Your help with packing and sorting on Sunday afternoon at the Village Hall is appreciated.  Bill Conole's dedication to our weekly program scheduling makes our meetings a source of great information for what is happening locally and abroad.  Bill welcomes new ideas for our programs.  And, Cheryl Sivestrini's raffle will give us the opportunity to financially support the many requests we receive from organizations that make this world a better place.  Let's all sell a few tickets (and maybe win a bit).  We can all make a difference as Rotarians by supporting these causes.  See you next week!"
LAST WEEK: .... by Bill Conole
The Beginnings:
Polo for Preemies - Chris Chenney reminded us of the Polo for Preemies fund raiser coming up next wee, Sunday, July 30th at the Skaneateles Polo Field and urged participation.
Book Sale /  BFTW - President Mary reminded everyone that on Sunday July 23r d at 2:00PM members are invited to select & pack children’s & reference books at the Annual Skaneateles Library book sales, located next to the Village Hall, in the old fire barn. These books will be sent to children in 3rd world countries via the Rotary BFTW.
RYLA - President Mary read a beautifully written thank you note from Ava Pochna thanking our club for sponsoring her to go to the RYLA Week in Cazenovia College. Bill Conole attended the RYLA Luncheon on Sunday July 9th & was tremendously impressed with our RYLA Students. Bill plans to have our RYLA students in for a meeting soon.
Ribs & Blues - President Mary thanked Amy Tormey, Roberta Williams & Bill Conole for joining her to support the Auburn Rotary Club’s Ribs & Blues benefit in Emerson Park this past weekend. Auburn Rotary allowed us to keep our tips & thereby rewarded us with $76.
Shelter Box - President Mary & Ward went to the Sunrise meeting his AM & finalized our joint grant for the Shelter Boxes. In August we will be setting up a Shelter Box for display at the SCHS.
YE Welcome Home Dinner - President Mary reminded everyone that the Youth Exchange Welcome Home Dinner will held on August 2nd in the Rusty Rail.
The Program / Club Assembly:
Worth Cause - Cheryl Sivestrini, chair of our Worthy Cause Committee, reviewed plans to have the committee take a more active role in reviewing old & ongoing club contributions. The committee will also prioritize the old & the new requests for contributions. This will help our board respond proactively to ever increasing number of requests for contributions our club receives.  Cheryl pointed out that our two main fund raisers, the Pancake Breakfast & our SCC Christmas Benefit are already fully committed. All of the money raised for Christmas Benefit is paid out by the following day.
200 Club Raffle - To raise more money for our many “Worthy Causes”, last year Cheryl initiated the 200 Club Raffle. Cheryl reviewed plans o have another “200 Club” Fundraiser this Summer.  If everyone contributes this Fund Raiser will have up to $1250 in prize money & enable our club to use up to $2750 for worthy causes. Cheryl will be selling tickets in August & September & begin drawings on Thursday October 5th.
ProgramsBill Conole, Program Chair, thanked all the members for helping him bring meaningful & interesting programs to our club. Bill reviewed the programs for the coming weeks & asked all of our members to continue to assist him on programs.

WEEKLY PROGRAMS - Needs your input  ...  by Ward
I would like to start this out by saying SUPER KUDOS to Bill Conole for seeking out and providing our Rotary Club meeting with excellent weekly programs, for the past 8 years.  They have been informative, exciting and fun.  Bill is asking for our help to continue with this effort  Look about your busy and exciting world to find folks that have an interesting life, profession, business or a community or world experience that would make an interesting program.  Pass this information, along with contact names and information to Bill so that he may arrange to fit it into our weekly programs schedule.  It's a interesting & exciting world out there, and let's share it!.
