THE PROGRAM: Syracuse Rescue Mission - Dan Sieberg, Dir. reviewed the many life changing services offered to those in need in the greater Syracuse community  by the Syracuse Rescue Mission.
Since 1887, the Rescue Mission has helped those in need in Onondaga County. Our campus in the heart of the City of Syracuse provides emergency shelter, clothing, and three free meals every day of the year. Beyond meeting these basic needs, their staff works with those who enter our programs to develop an individual plan and access the supports they need to leave homelessness and hunger behind.  They offer employment and education resources, life skills training, and spiritual care. Also, Rescue Mission connect their guests and residents to mental health providers, substance abuse programming, and physical health services.  For more information on their programs and services, CLICK HERE.

Highway Cleanup - April 26th. .... by Marv
We will meet at Mr. Pudders at 9:00AM.  It only takes about an hour to cleanup our mile. Our mile is from Fuller St. to County Line Road.
I have hard hats and safety vests that I will hand out to everyone.  I will also have pickup sticks and trash bags. Bring your own gloves and I suggest you wear pants and shoes with a good tread.  I made the mistake of wearing shorts and sneakers last time, it was a mistake.  Even if we happen to get some warm weather, the grass will be wet.
The DOT requires everyone to sign a waiver. I sent this out previously via email. If you did receive it, either email it back to me, or bring it with you to the cleanup.  Else fill out one when you come to the event.
Let's pray for nice weather.  We are looking for a good turnout as many hands make short work.  Also it makes for a visible community project.  And we can find out what is the most popular beer can, or maybe it's a water bottle this year!

April 9 th, Skantarians picked up 19 boxes from Kelly Gunderson, the Skaneateles Middle School librarian, who had them pre-packed and ready to go.
