PRESIDENT'S CORNER ... by Bill Huba
The beautiful weather continues! Let's take advantage of it. This week fellow Skantarian Dale Drake asked those who are able to consider volunteering on Sunday, August 21 at Baltimore Woods for the Baltimore Woods 50th Anniversary 5K Trail Run. Positions need to be filled at the Water Stop and Finish Line and help out as Trail Markers and at the Post Race Snack Table. Details can be had at www.baltimorewoods.org or stacy@baltimorewoods.org, or call (315) 673-1350. A great service opportunity for a great local resource. See you there! Thank you.
LAST WEEK: .... by Bill Conole
Program - Bill Conole introduced our Skaneateles YMCA Director Dorthea Hughes by noting the key role Robin Jowaisas, Chuck O'Neil, & Guido van der Ven had in bringing the YMCA's expertise to our Community Center.
Dorthea began her presentation by pointing out that this is her fourth visit to our club in the past five years.  Five years ago the Community Center was annually losing large sums of money & it's membership was stagnant. As a result of Dorthea's leadership the Y is now in the black & membership has almost doubled. he Y's recently completed successful fund drive raised over $4.5 million dollars. This money was used to install a new, state of the art, ice hockey rink & a large basketball/volleyball arena. This money is also being used for numerous small & large upgrades to the Y's physical plant. Under Dorthea's guidance new fitness & wellness programs have been added & older programs have been revamped & expanded.
Dorthea  thanked the Skaneateles Rotary Club & it's members for their ongoing generous support. Our 50/50 winner-the winning draw was Dan Roche Guest: Dorthea Hughes-YMCA Director & Speaker Rotarians in Attnendance& Percent:21& 36%

ROTARY LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE
Although it's still summer, it's never too early to register for a Rotary Leadership Institute session near you this Fall.
Make plans now to register for one of our wonderful RLI sessions scheduled throughout Northeast America in the Fall of 2016 and into the Spring of 2017.
You will come back to your clubs more enthusiastic and knowledgeable about Rotary -- and ready to put what you have learned to the test.
So, if you have taken Part I or Part II, why not register for the Rotary Leadership Institute given in your area?
If you are new to Rotary, you can meet Rotarians from all over the Northeast and learn about how you can make a difference in your club, in your community and in the world through service projects and the Rotary Foundation.
Even Faculty and RLI Graduates can expand their horizons by taking this year's Graduate Course on "Effective Public Speaking." Please check with the website to make sure the Graduate Course is being given at the location nearest you.
The next session nearest you will be held at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School, Verona, NY, Saturday, October 8, 2016

200 CLUB - Fund Raiser ... by Cheryl
It may not be as exciting as cracking eggs or flipping pancakes, but the 200 Club Raffle is an easy way to raise money to benefit community and youth groups.
Here’s how it works:  we sell 200 tickets at $20 each totaling $4,000.  We give away $1500 in prizes which leaves us with $2500 to use for worthy causes.  We will sell tickets throughout July and August.  Two $50 prizes will be drawn at our Club Meetings on 9/1, 9/8, 9/15, 9/22, and 9/29.  On 10/6, we will draw a $250 winner, as well as the $750 Grand Prize winner.  Also, all weekly winners will be put back into the raffle and be eligible for the Grand Prize!
We need to sell all 200 tickets for this raffle to make it work as outlined, so please consider selling at least 5 tickets to family, friends, co-workers, etc. – and don’t forget to buy your own!  Cheryl will have tickets available at all weekly meetings.  If paying by check, please make payable to Skaneateles Rotary Foundation.  Be sure the contact information is completed on the ticket and give that portion of the ticket to Cheryl along with ticket money/checks.
Thank you to everyone who already bought tickets, as well as picked up tickets to sell.
