RI Announces 2017-18 President Selection
Australian accountant Ian H.S. Riseley, a member of the Rotary Club of Sandringham, Victoria, was selected by the Nominating Committee and will become the president-nominee on 1 October if there are no challenges from other candidates. Riseley has been a member since 1978, and has served Rotary as treasurer, director, trustee, RI Board Executive Committee member, task force member, committee member and chair, and district governor.
Trading Banner - Austln University RC... by Ward
Alice Pudy returned last week from her visit to Austin Texas and presented the club with a trading banner she obtained at the Austin University Area Rotary club. She and her daughter were there to explore education possibilities for her daughter in the university school of Engineering. Alice shared her experience with our members last week and presented Prez Bill with the banner along with a fun note that the club passed the "Boots" for happy dollars and fines.

NASA - Kevin Conole - Bill Conole to introduce our speaker, Bill’s son Kevin who is a Program Specialist in the Office of International & Interagency Relations at NASA HQ in Washington, DC. Bill’s son, Kevin is a Program Specialist in the Office of International & Interagency Relations at NASA HQ in Washington, DC. Kevin opened his program with a brief history of NASA. He noted that in 1962, when the Soviets seemed far ahead of the U.S. in space, President Kennedy challenged our nation & NASA to put a man on the Moon by the end of the decade. NASA met this challenge when U.S. astronaut Neil Armstrong set foot on the Moon on July 20,, 1969. Kevin outlined NASA’s four Mission Directorates and how they are aligned to lead the world on Journey to Mars. Before we send humans to Mars in the 2030s, robots are paving the way, led by the Curiosity rover. Kevin called our International Space Station a marvel of modern engineering. 15 nations separately engineered & built components for the Station, which has been in continuous operation since 2000. Larger than a football field, the Station is a unique place – a convergence of science, technology and human innovation where astronauts demonstrate new technologies and make research breakthroughs not possible on Earth. Kevin also noted the many NASA spinoff technologies improving the lives of people on Earth and shared a few examples, which included a space-based water-finding system, earthquake shock absorbers, and the world’s first 3-D endoscope for brain surgery (which was developed through NASA’s innovative work on robotics). Kevin described his job with NASA where he manages NASA’s relationships with its civilian interagency partners and serves on the U.S. delegation to the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, in Vienna, Austria.

Youth Music & Arts Festival - 2015 - Aug. 15
The Syracuse Sunrise Rotary Club presents its 2nd Youth Music & Arts Festival on August 15th at the Kellish Music Farm located at 3192 Pompey Center Rd., Manlius, NY. A Rotarian sponsored festival for outstanding young artists. Begins at 12 pm and World Class-Special Concerts 3:30 pm & 7 PM. 2015-16 Skaneateles Rotary Youth Exchange
The 2015-16 Rotary Youth Exchange Outbound students have been selected and will be departing this summer for a year as exchange students abroad. They are: Sofia Darovskikh, going to Finland, and Zach Driscoll going to Germany. We congratulate them upon their selections and wish them all the best on their "adventure of a lifetime".
Our Inbound students will be: Daniela Fadic Contreras, from Chile, and Vincent Lambert form France.
