Inbound Youth Exchange Students - have arrived for their year stay in Skaneateles. All three attended our last week's meeting where they were introduced to our club members by Lee Bennett. Be sure to welcome them to our community when you see them.  Pictured from left to right are: Marcus from Brazil), Katarina [Kata] from Finland) and from Poland.
The pictures of this year's YE Students have been refreshed with new pictures of these dynamic three. See the link to the pictures in the RI Exchange Students (2014-15) below.
LAST WEEK  .... by Bill Conole ...
Dr James Ciaccio made a presentation on the Geriatric Emergency Room he founded. During his introduction Bill Conole pointed out that Dr Ciaccio & his wife are long time friends of our club. Twice in the past 5 years Jamie & his wife have hosted two Rotary Exchange Students. Dr Ciaccio served on the Auburn Memorial Hospital Medical Staff for 24 years. Ten years ago he joined the Community General Hospital Medical Staff & started to develop his plan to set up a Geriatric Emergency Room. There are over 2,000 hospital emergency rooms in the US. When Dr Ciaccio initiated his service it was only the 50th Geriatric Emergency Room our country. As our nation ages there is growing need for more geriatric medicine specialists. Clearly Dr Ciaccio is a pioneer in developing a vital medical service for CNY”s geriatric population.
50/50—was won by Inbound YE, Katariina (Kata) Huru
Get Well/Birthday Card - was signed & sent to Dan Roche who is recovering from a broken hip.

IMPORTANT MEETING SEPT. 18:  by Doug .... All Rotarians are strongly encouraged to attend the club’s regular Thursday meeting,  Sept 18, at the Sherwood. The program  will be the Annual Meeting of the Skaneateles Rotary Foundation (SRF) which all of us are members. This important Annual Meeting will include: 1) a review of the history and purpose of the SRF, 2) the election of two new SRF board members (nominees: Roberta Williams and John Moran), 3) a review of SRF finances for the 2013/14 fiscal year including a recap of “worthy cause” disbursements and, 4) an introduction to the SRF Endowment Fund which the  Club has agreed to establish in lieu of conducting an additional annual fund raiser. A strong showing of attendance at this meeting is needed to establish a quorum and especially given the importance to the club membership of the topics to be presented and discussed.
WHAT PAUL HARRIS SAID:
“When an individual, a sect, a clique or a nation hates and despises another individual, sect, clique or nation, he or they simply do not know the objects of their hatred.  Ignorance is at the bottom of it."
