PRESIDENT'S CORNER ... by Prez Bill
This past week we enjoyed a
Club Assembly This past week we enjoyed a Club Assembly and discussed a couple of topics, including a presentation by PP Pete Adams about a proposed Service Project the first weekend in October where we would join other Clubs in erecting a playground in Sennett. This is an exceptionally apt cause, right in our wheelhouse for time commitment and abilities. I thank Peter for identifying the opportunity and urge all who can to pitch in. (see more below)
Picnic Next week is our picnic and I look forward to seeing you there. (see details above)
DG 2019-20 - As to Rotary business about but at a level above our Club: The District Governor position is open for Rotary Year 2019 - 2020; there are some eligibility criteria and the commitment is serious, but if anyone is interested in submitting their name please contact Ward or myself directly for further discussion. We do have members who would be excellent candidates, so don't be shy.
Presidential Citation - As a Club we are also eligible to compete for a Presidential Citation; there are a number of goals & objectives that must be met, but this is an achievable prize. An overview of the Award and the challenges that must be met will accompany this week's newsletter. Please consider how you could help the Club complete the requirements.  You can find a copy of the Pres-Citation brochure among the Site Pages of our website, or by CLICKING HERE for a direct link.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS ... by Prez Bill
A Community Service Project is planned for 01 & 02 October (Saturday & Sunday, respectively), to erect a new playground in the Town of Sennett. It is likely this will be a joint project with the Skaneateles Sunrise Club and the Auburn Club. Two three hour shifts per day will be scheduled but all are welcome to contribute as much time as they can, any help is appreciated.  More information to come as the project takes shape.  The play equipment is supplied by Landscape Structures, who are the folks the supplied equipment we assembled in Skaneateles a few years.
LAST WEEK: .... by Bill Conole
Our Program
Club Assembly: President Bill briefly reviewed the issues discussed in our club board meeting.
Community Service Project - Peter Adams asked our members if they are willing to help the Town of Sennett build a playground. Several years ago our club helped build a large playground in Austin Park. Peter described the Sennett playground as a smaller version of the Austin Park playground. Peter is planning on asking the Auburn Rotary and the Skaneateles Sunrise Clubs to join us in this service project. Peter projects that this playground can be built in one weekend with about 20 Rotary volunteers on the weekend of October 1st. Chuck O’Neil moved that our club participate in this worthy venture. Bill Conole joined Ward in seconding Chuck’s motion. Peter Adams passed around a sign to the members so they can volunteer on October 1st & 2nd for this project. (see more info below)
PolioPlus / Bottle Stoppers - President Bill reminded everyone to please contribute to Polio Plus. Members contributing $50 or more will receive a beautifully handcrafted win stopper from Ward.
District Governor Applications - President Bill & Ward announced that applications are being sought for the position of District Governor. Ward reviewed the requirements for this position.
Guests None
200 Club Drawing - The 2 winning $50 tickets were drawn for: Margarett Morehead & Mary Struck.. Throughout September $50 drawings will be made at each meeting. In our October 6th meeting a $250 & a grand prize $750 ticket will be drawn.
Our 50/50 winner - the winning draw was Bill Conole. The Queen of Spades still is hiding in the deck.image
