I would like to thank all the Rotarians and Sons of the Legion for helping support our Firemen on their annual field days. While many firemen field days have been discontinued in our area, Skaneateles Volunteer Fireman's  Labor Day Celebration continues to survive. Like our breakfast, volunteers are essential, so thank you for giving your time even in inclement weather. It was important and appreciated.......  Jack Hyatt

PRESIDENTS' CORNER ... by Pres., Bill Conole
New Members- The August Rotarian Magazine's featured "Winning New Members -15 Surefire, Proven, No-Nonsense, Tried & True, Foolproof, Absolutely Guaranteed Tips". I urge all of our members to read this issue.. Attracting new members to our club is critical to ensuring that our Skaneateles Rotary Club legacy survives & thrives. Many of you may know candidates for membership to our club. Invite these candidates to a meeting for one of our scintillating programs. Ask them to join & don't give up if at 1st they demure. Many candiates may need to be diplomatically pursued. Attracting younger members today is a greater challenge that we need to study & pursue in the future. Your ideas on this are appreciated.
Firemen's Field Days- Every Skaneateles summer ends with our Firemen's Field days - By attending & supporting the Firemen's Field Days, Rotarians are showing our solidarity with our intrepid, hardworking firefighters who train so diligently to save our homes & our lives. Look forward to seeing all of our members this weekend at the Firemen's Field Days.

What Are You Doing for POLIO DAY
Rotary and its partners in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) have had to take bold action in the historic fight against polio. At Rotary’s 6th annual World Polio Day event on 24 October in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, we’ll highlight the monumental and innovative steps that are getting us closer to our goal. We’ll also celebrate 30 years of achievements by the GPEI. Learn more about the event in Philadelphia and how you can promote your own event or find an event near you.
LAST WEEK ... by Mary G.  & by Bill C.
THE PROGRAM
Take me out to the ballgame🎵🎵🎵-  Rotarians gathered at Falcon Park to watch the Auburn Doubledays take on the Williamsport, Pa Crosscutters. Hotdogs and beer were the fare for the beautiful summer evening.  The Doubledays won handily over the Crosscutters with a final score of 5-1. ... by Mary G.
Baseball Auburn Doubledays - Our club journeyed to nearby Auburn to rouse the Auburn Doubledays to a much needed win as the Doubledays vie for a playoff slot.  Last Thursday evening was Rotary Night in Falcon Park. President Bill hurled a heater on the honorary "1st pitch" of the game. Members from 3 other Rotary Clubs joined us a festive evening. Past DG Peter Cardimone, from the Tully Club, brought their exchange student from Italy, Ivan Placenini. It was Ivan 1st baseball game & the Doubledays presented him one of the game balls. For Rotarians, tickets we 1/2 price at $5 & it was "Dollar Night" for hotdogs & beers. Tim Donavan, manning his security position at the front gate, counted 25 Rotarians from the 4 local clubs & about 20 from Skaneateles.  Everyone enjoyed a relaxing evening watching our National Past Time.  My thanks to Tim Donovan for setting & coordinating our club outing to Falcon Park. ... by Bill C.
