LAST MEETING, Jan 18th .... by Mary
The Beginnings - Bill B opened the meeting leading us in the pledge and welcoming our many guests:
Guests: Scout Troop 61 - Scout Leaders Sean Perham and Andrea Schweska (and husband Zack).  Troop members Lillian Schweska, Mia Austin, Russell Georianna and Andrew Perham.  And, Evie Shaffer (Rosemary's guest), Sharon O'Connell (Lori's guest), Ella Bucholz (returning exchange student) and John Paddock from the morning club.
Recognized: Two club members were recognized for their service over and above on a cold Wednesday morning in the Village without power.  Jason came to the rescue for Robin whose sump pump was out, and Ed was seen cleaning up a fallen tree in Thayer Park.  Thanks Guys!
Rotary Foundation Update:  Bill B updated us on Foundation giving to date. We've exceeded our Polio Plus goal and are over 50% on our Foundation Goal.  If you haven't given yet, please send a check to Bill B made out to the Rotary Foundation or else you'll find your mailbox overflowing with reminders.
Winterfest: John Paddock updated us on the annual Skaneateles Winterfest which begins with the Ice Fire on Friday evening, Jan 26th with the Taste of Skaneateles on Saturday, Jan 27th.  John asked for volunteers and passed around a sign-up sheet.  If you can help, please let John know at: 382-3284‬ or email
Polar Plunge Team!!!! Our club has its very own Polar Plunge Team ........so exciting!!!!  Rosemary, Ayham and his son Triton, Chad and Jason will jump into the frigid lake next Saturday to raise funds for the Skan Volunteer Fire Department, SAVES and the Skaneateles Education Foundation.  If you can, please be at the dock to cheer them on.  This week's Happy Dollars of almost $400 is earmarked for this cause.  If you weren't at the meeting or were short of cash at the meeting and would like to donate please send a check payable to Skaneateles Polar Plunge Club to Bill Buterbaugh at 103 East Genesee St, Skaneateles.
New Member Inducted -
Pam Stern who has been an unofficial member of our club became an official member of our club with her induction by Rosemary and Mike.  Pam's sponsor is Lee, with whom she has diligently been working with on the youth exchange program.  Welcome to Pam!
Annual Meeting - The following slate of new officers and board members was unanimously elected for the 2024-2025 Rotary year which begins July 1st:  Andy Stevens(President Elect), Vince Magnota, Joe Bianculli andConner Finlay (new Board members to serve 2 years).  Thanks for stepping up to take leadership roles in the club!  Other officers will be the current incumbents.
The Program:
Scout Troop 61: Dave Lee introduced Troop 61 Leaders and Scouts.  Our club has been the charter organization for the Troop for many years (even when Dave was a Scout).  Lillian, Mia, Russell and Andrew took turns telling us about their activities which include participating in the Village Memorial Day Parade, enjoying the outdoors at many campouts, helping at our pancake breakfast, holding a Mother's Day Spaghetti Dinner, selling flares, running a food drive, and much more.  The Troop is looking forward to summer camp in Rhode Island.  This is certainly an impressive group of Scouts!
The meeting ended with Ed leading us in the Four (Five) Way Test.

February Service Project. ... by Jay
Sleep in Heavenly Peace - bed assembly
On Saturday, February 10th, our club will be helping Sleep in Heavenly Peace assemble beds at the Finger Lakes Mall in Auburn (inside by the Savanah Bank entrance).  There is a short registration before we can start helping so the organization is asking we arrive between 9:30 and 10 am on the 10th. The project runs until the early afternoon but if people can only come for part of the day that is fine.
There is nothing you are required to bring with you but we will be assembling beds so if you want work gloves or anything like that I would recommend you bring them just in case.
Please RSVP with Jay Stith (EMAIL) or call/text 315-209-0753) and register BY CLIICKING HERE in advance if you plan on helping:

STORAGE NEEDED!!
Jay has been storing the club's collection of banners.  Since he and Hilary are beginning some house renovations, we need a new person to take this over.  If you can help, please contact Jay at; jstith@healthstrategyassoc.com or 315-209-0753
2024-25 Theme: The Magic of Rotary
