Annual Book Gleaning & Packing ... Ward
Plan to participate in our Annual Book Gleaning & Packing party ... and ... become a Rotarian Booklegger.
DATE:Sunday July 10th (following the Library Annual Book Sale)
TIME: 2 PM(Typically takes a bit over an hour)
WHERE:Village Hall, apparatus bays(old fire hall)
WHO:Skaneateles Rotarians, family & friends(More hands make short work.)
WHAT:Glean, sort & pack children’s and reference books for our Annual Books for the World Project.
WHY:Support literacy for the children of our world

Annual Giving SHARE - Goal: $6,200 YTD: $8,195 or 132%
PolioPlus - Goal: $2,000 YTD: $3,216 or 161%
with 41 of our 59 members participating.

The District Changing of the Guard Dinner was held on Thursday, June 30th, at Traditions at Erie Village. District Governor Henry “Mac” MacDonald acknowledged several Rotarians who have done outstanding service, including our own Ward Vuillemot. Mac awarded Ward a certificate for his outstanding work with “Books for the World”. He explained how Ward recognized the need for education and literacy during a trip to Africa and started “Books for the World” to meet this need. Rotarians gave Ward a huge round of applause for all he has done for this very worthwhile and important project.
Pins and Rotary banners were passed on to the new District Governor, Peter Cardamone. Peter spoke about Rotary International’s theme this year which is “Rotary Serving Humanity”. Gavels were passed from current Club Presidents to new Club Presidents. A nice evening was had by all, and we look forward to another exciting year of “service above self”.

D7150 Youth Exchange Welcome Home Dinner is to be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at The Rusty Rail, Route 5, Canastota, NY
All students who were abroad during the period of July 2015 through July 2016 attend this annual event to relate their impressions as well as afford outbounds for next year (2016-17) the benefit of their experiences. The short speech by each of the returning students relays the highlights of his/her exchange experiences. Dinner attendees and Outbound Students are urged to arrive by 5:45 pm, so that the dinner and talks will commence on time.
All Youth Exchange students will be the guests of the Youth Exchange Committee at the dinner. The cost for Rotarians and family members will be $19.00 per person with advance registration by July 25, 2016, or $24.00 per person after July 25th. Info & Registration Link

Announcements - Outgoing President Cheryl & Incoming President Bill Huba were attending the Rotary District 7150 Changing of the Guard Ceremony so Bill Conole presided over our meeting.
BFTW Project -Bill Conole invited all of our members to participate in our "Skaneateles Rotary Annual Book Gleaning & Packing event on Sunday July 10th at 2PM in the Village Hall apparatus bays [old fire hall]. Skaneateles Rotarians, family & friends are invited----many hands make light work. By packing these children's & reference books we are supporting literacy for the children of our world.
Baseball - Bill also asked the members to consider hosting a "Tent Night/ Rotary Night" by going to a Doubleday game in Auburn's Falcon Park. To break even on this event we need a minimum of 40 people. Bill will get back to the club with more info next week,
Skaneateles Rotary Foundation - Chuck O'Neil opened his presentation on our Skaneateles Foundation by announcing the good news that we have now officially deposited our Foundation's Permanent Endowment Goal at the CNY Community Foundation in February of $10,000. In addition to this deposit our Foundation has received pledges in the form of bequests totaling more than $80,000 from club members. Chuck cited our Foundation's initial fond raising goal of 500,000. Meeting this goal will enable our foundation to double the amount we contribute to worthy causes from $25,000 to $50,000. Chuck asked all of our members to consider making a bequest to help support our foundation.
SRF By-laws: Chuck reviewed a proposed change in the Foundation Bylaws. After a brief discussion the members present approved the change unanimously.
Elections: The members present also approved the election of officers for the Foundation for the 2016-2017 Term & reelected Bill Conole & John Moran to serve another term as Foundation Board members.
Operations - Kathy Celot recapped the three areas of the Foundation's operation: 1 Our Foundation Assets as of may 16 2- Our "Worthy Cause" donations of $28,419 & our projected support for 3 new exchange students 3-A preliminary recap of our 2016 Pancake Breakfast shows a net of $13,100 down from our 2105 net by $1700..
Pancake Breakfast Recap- Chuck O'Neill analyzed the 2016 Pancake Breakfast results in more detail. @016's downturn is in keeping with a steady slow decline in breakfast net revenue & attendance since our record 2008 attendance of 3468. Chuck listed 8 possible reasons for this downturn & asked for the members to consider ways we may spur more people to attend our community function.
