Last Meeting: May 29, 2025 THE BEGINNING: Andy opened the meeting by leading us in the Pledge and welcoming our guests: Lene (exchange student), Gary Girzadis and Jeff LaMarca (soon to be inducted), Kyle Hares (Woodbine Hospitality Group). Also present was our honorary member, Bill Allyn. ANNOUNCEMENTS >Pancake Breakfast Tickets: John Moran passed a signup sheet for selling tickets at Tops and reminded us that tickets sold prior to the event cover our expenses for the breakfast. If you would like to reserve a spot call or email John at: 315-256-5163 or john.moran46@aol.com Mary will be emailing the assignment list for the breakfast to all members in a few days. Please contact Mary with any issues (mfgiroux0614@gmail.com or 315 291 7146). >Next Week: June 5 meeting at The Sherwood. Speaker will be former exchange student from France, Marie Anick. Also, special guests Bill and Mary Stevens! >Paul Harris Awards: Bill B presented Paul Harris Awards to three club members: Bill Allyn, Lee Bennett and Danny Roche. The awards are in recognition of Bill, Lee and Danny for their generosity in supporting Rotary International. Thanks to Bill, Lee and Danny! THE PROGRAM: Ed introduced our speaker Kyle Hares, General Manager of Skaneateles Fields. Kyle brought us up to date on the Woodbine Hospitality Group projects in Skaneateles. The Hilltop will keep the same name and is designed to be a social gathering place for the community. Although the bowling alley will not be part of the venue there will be simulators for several games. In addition to the restaurant/bar there will be 20 guest rooms. The anticipated opening date is December 2025 or January 2026. Skaneateles Fields, across from Baxter is nearer to completion with an opening date of August 2025. Three restaurants, 89 rooms, wellness features including pools and spas, and hiking trails will make Skaneateles Fields a special venue. Skaneateles Fields is also partnering with Taproots and other local businesses to make it a truly local operation. 50-50 RAFFLE: Marv was the lucky winner but alas, did not pull the Queen of Hearts. The pot is growing! THE ENDING: Bill C led us in the (Four + one) Five Way Test! Andy thanked the Sherwood staff for their hospitality. |
