The Program- Emily Mastellar (EMS Outreach Coordinator) and Lisa Knight (Corporate Relations Representative) fromMercy Flight Centralwere our guests and speakers for the evening. Mercy Flight provides medical air transport for 24 counties in New York State. Founded in 1992, Mercy Flight maintains three bases of operation: Canadaigua, Rome and Marcellus. Services are provided 365 days a year, 24 hours per day. There are four helicopters, three in service and one as a spare. Each helicopter is manned by a pilot, a nurse and a paramedic, each with specialized training. Mercy Flight averages 600 flights each year. A flight may be in response to an accident or trauma scene (about 45% of flights) or it may be a transport to a higher level medical facility (about 55% of flights). Flying a patient in a Mercy Flight helicopter is "like flying an ICU" according to Emily.
Emily and Lisa graciously invited our club to visit the Marcellus Mercy Flight base. As the Outreach Coordinator Emily works with the Skaneateles Volunteer Fire Department and our Village Police Department.
It is great to know that we have such a state of the art operation in CNY. Thanks to Emily and Lisa.
The Ending Members recited the Four Way Test and the Zoom portion of the meeting ended.
Skaneateles Rotary
FOOD DRIVE.. April 23rd.... by Andy Stevens
This Month, the Skaneateles Rotary Club will be conducting another food drive, similar to what we did last year. This involved Rotarians distributing grocery bags with a flyer on neighbors doors, asking for food donations. The Rotarians then collect the bags a week later, and deliver the donations to a central location in Skaneateles. We need your help! How you can participate...
1:Reach out to your neighbors - On Saturday April 16th, deliver a grocery bag along with a flyer explaining what we are doing and instructions to 10 or more of your neighbors. The bags and flyers will be provided to you. Let us know how many you will need.
2: Collect - On the morning of April 23rd, collect the donated food from your neighbors and deliver it to Ed Evan's garage from 11 AM to Noon
3: Delivery - From Noon on the 23rd, volunteer to help with sorting and delivery of food donations to the Skaneateles and Spafford Food pantries. This could take a couple of hours, depending of course on the number of volunteers we have and the amount of food donated.
PanCake Breakfast - Final decision to go or no-go yet to be made.
Library book sale move - June 4th
Clear Path of Vets - project is being planned.
District Grant- is being planned with SSRC taking the lead this year. More info to follow.
Next BOD meeting is on Monday, May 9 at 5:00 PM, via Zoom.
