Front Desk Duty!!!
Chad  and Chuck O are the scheduled front desk members for our next club meeting on August 21. Remember that if you will not be able to attend the meeting you are scheduled for it is your responsibility to find a replacement.

Last Meeting: August 7, 2025
The Beginning:  Andy led us in the Pledge and welcomed our guests:  Mike Hill and Peter Georgianna (speakers from Odyssey of the Mind) and Connor O'Toole (Jay's friend).
Announcements:
  • Andy thanked everyone for cereal donations to the Food Pantry.  Donations are much appreciated and help to reduce the Food Pantry's expenses.
  • Happy Hour next week at the Legion hosted by Larry and Doug.  Stop by and bring a friend!
  • Jay updated us on the Youth Exchange program.  Clara, our incoming student from Denmark arrives in two weeks.  Also, Jay and Pam need some help from club members.  Students need to be transported to various District events.  If you can help with this, please contact Jay at jstith@healthstrategyassoc.com
  • Jay updated us on the Duck Dash.  On August 31 the Duck (our very own Joe Bianculli) and Duck Dash friends will march in the Labor Day parade.  You are all invited to join the group.  T-shirts and candy to throw will be provided.  Also, save the dates:  September 25 in the evening for numbering of the ducks and September 27 for the Duck Dash event.
  • Packing unsold books from the library book sale is planned for Tuesday August 19 at 5:00.   If you can help let Mary know at mfgiroux0614@gmail.com Many hands make light work and with lots of members helping it won't take long!
  • Bill B passed a sign-up sheet for Clams and Corn at the Firemen's Field Days.  See separate article for details.
  • The Program:  Mike Hill told us about the Odyssey of the Mind program.  Odyssey of the Mind is an international creative problem-solving program where teams of students work together to solve problems ranging from building structures to performing theatre pieces.  The Skaneateles program is now managed by the Presbyterian Church.  There will be 5 to 7 teams this year with participating students ranging from 3rd grade through Middle School.  All students are welcome to participate regardless of abilities. Teams are assigned a problem to solve and learn spontaneous problem solving and collaboration skills in the process. Each team is under the supervision of two adult coaches.  However, the coaches do not participate in the problem solving, that's the job of the team members. There are costs associated with the program and no child is turned away because of financial circumstances.  The program budget is in the range of $6000 to $8000 for the upcoming year.  Additional costs will apply for any team that is chosen to go to the world competition.  Funds are raised by the Presbyterian Church through community events, business support and individual contributors.  Thanks to Dave Lee for arranging this program.
  • 50-50:  Brad Wilson was the happy winner of the 50-50 but alas, did not draw the Queen of Hearts.  The pot stands at more than $125 and there are only 40 cards left to draw from!
  • Five Way Test:  The meeting ended with the Five Way Test.

Food Pantry Help Wanted -----it's easy!
The Skaneateles Food Pantry can use some help! One of the items the Pantry always needs is breakfast cereal so we're asking that members bring a box of cereal to each club meeting. It's an item that flies off the shelves each week so your help with this would be greatly appreciated. And, thanks to club members for this week's donations which stocked the shelves!
