Ralph Jurgensen will be Missed ... by Ward
It is with a sad heart that I report that Skaneateles Rotarian, Ralph Jurgensen passed away Saturday evening. Ralph has been an active member of the SRC Since 1978 when he sponsored by John McDonald. Ralph served and the club's president in 2006/07 and became a Paul Harris Fellow that year. Ralph served on numerous committee during his years in our club, and will be greatly missed by all. Our preyers and thoughts are with the Jurgensen family at this time. I will pass along further information once funeral arrangements are known.
Last WEEK May 12th, 2022 ... by Mary Giroux
Guests - Patrick McDonald, CNY Compost
Membership/Attendance- 42 Active Members 12 members attending.
The Beginnings - Terry led us in the Pledge of Allegiance
The Program - Mary introduced Pat McDonald our speaker and guest. Pat grew up in Skaneateles and is the son of Roy McDonald who we miss dearly. Pat told us about founding his part time business, CNY Compost, during the pandemic. CNY Compost offers a pick up service for compostable household waste and in return delivers fully processed compost to clients. Household compostable waste is considered "green waste" and it creates rich ground soil. As such it needs oxygen to break down and be reused. Putting this waste in landfills prevents breakdown as it is oxygen starved and as a result creates harmful methane. Composting also keeps landfill costs down. Check out the services atCNYCompost.com.
Pancake Breakfast - John Moran distributed packets of Pancake Breakfast tickets along with instructions for sending in payments.
Special Treat - Members were also surprised with a special treat, courtesy of our fellow club member, Ed Evans. Ed brought in a wonderful platter of brisket and ribs from which attendees thoroughly enjoyed on The Sherwood's famous stretch bread! Thank you Ed!!
The Ending - Members recited the Four Way Test & the zoom portion of the meeting ended.
Hwy 20 spruced up for the spring ... by Ward
Skaneateles Rotarians and guests met at Mr. Putters for their semi-annual Adopt A Highway project this Spring, May 14th. Twice a year the club gather to pick up trash along Hwy 20 from the western village limit to Town Line Road. As they were preparing to start, the driver of a large cattle transport acknowledge them with a friendly horn-toot "tucker's salute" and a wave of thanks.

Why I request RSVPs
for our Meetings at the Inn ... by Ed
As a courtesy to Rotary, The Sherwood provides us marketable space for our meetings at no charge. In return all that they have asked is that we provide a fairly accurate count so that they can manage their space & staff to serve us and their other guests. With Ward’s help reminding us in every weekly bulletin it seems pretty easy to call, message or email me your plan to attend in person. If for no other reason that upholding numbers 2 and 4 of our 4-Way test, please try to RSVP your in person attendance.
Appreciatively, Ed Evans
