PRESIDENT'S CORNER ... by Prez Bill
Greetings, Skantarians! I hope everyone enjoyed last week's program and again salute Amy Tormey for putting it together. On Monday, October 31, our Club will sponsor cider and donuts for the trick-or-treaters and their parents at the high school and Interact will be hosting Haunted Hallways. Details will be covered at this week's meeting, but as in the past this is a light-hearted opportunity to help out a fun event for our community, so come one, come all.
Haunted Hallways Returns with a twist...by Karen Price
This year Haunted Hallways is at the HIGH SCHOOL that will be transformed. Cider and donuts will be served again by the Skaneateles Rotary Club and Interacters and volunteers will utilize the Courtyard and Science wing to thrill our tricker or treaters. Cider and donutsin the Upper Commons,. The decision to move Haunted Hallways came down to convenience and giving our transformers more precious time to decorate. A group of energetic Interacters voted unanimously to bring Haunted Hallways back to our community. So on Halloween night Oct 31st 6-8 come to the HIGH SCHOOL and see the transformation on our spookiest night of the year ... and ... volunteer in making int a fun evening for all.
Numerous preparations being made to redirect the crowd to the Upper Commons at the HIGH SCHOOL. Hold on tight, "We're Back"!!!!

The Skaneateles Rotary Christmas Holiday benefit will be held Thursday December 1st at the Skaneateles Country Club. Tickets are now available from Amy Tormey for tables of 8 or 10 at $25.00 each. You may obtain your tickets at our weekly club meetings and may reserve ahead by contacting Amy at tormeyesl@verizon.net

The Welcoming - Acting President Cheryl welcomed Rotarians, their spouses &, members of the Skaneateles Education Foundation & members of our community to attend our Skaneateles Rotary Club's Third Annual Women's Day Celebration. This year's is Jill Tietjen PE, a nationally recognized author, speaker & electrical engineer.
Polio Plus: Cheryl asked Ward to display his "Polio Plus" decorative, hand crafted wine stopper. Ward made these wine stoppers & is giving them to anyone who contributes $50 to Polio Plus. President Cheryl announced that the $232, Kelly Hall raised from our "Happy Dollars" collection is being donated to Polio Plus.
Skaneateles Education Foundation - Amy Tormey thanked the Skaneateles Education Foundation for funding JillTietjen's visit to SCHS. Jill Tietjen spent the day meeting with high school & middle school students.
The Program:Jill Tietjen started her presentation by noting that she plans to feature three major themes from her award winning book. 'Her Story: A Timeline of the Women's Who Changed America". These themes are," Passion, Persistence & Determination". Jill stressed that these themes are the keys to personal & professional success. Jill used examples from her book of women who succeeded in the STEM Fields[Science, Technology, Engineering & Math]. All of these successful ladies pursued their educations & careers with passion, persistence & determination. The colorful, pioneering ladies Jill talked about all made major contributions to science, technology, engineering & math. Jill said she loves telling these inspiring stories about women who changed America to young students. Jill was amused when a Skaneateles student asked her if "she ever imagined that she would be a legend and cool".
Jill noted that currently their are 850 women who changed America enshrined in the National Women's Hall of Fame. During her presentation Jill Tietjen exuded positive energy. Jill closed with Margaret Mead's famous quote that "it only takes one person to make a difference in this world". By adapting & employing Jill Tietjen's "Keys to Personal & Professional Success" our young women & men can make a difference in our world.
