2020/21 Comes to a Close .... by Dave Lee
Fellow Rotarians; As my term as president comes to a close, I want to express my appreciation for the exemplary efforts of our club members to advance our service and accomplish more than we might have expected. A special shout out to the people I was able to look to for supporting me. Without Ward’s experience and advice, this job would have been much more difficult. Jay, Lori, Tyler, Terry, Lee and the rest of the committee and board members did all the heavy lifting. Bill Conole brought us an outstanding lineup of programs. No one would choose to attend a zoom meeting in lieu of sharing our fellowship face to face. On the other hand, having two of our alumni foreign exchange students joining us from Europe was unforgettable. Hybrid meetings will allow others to be with us from afar. Next year we expect to be greeting the community again from behind the pancake grills. Nothing is better than being out there in the public, but fund raising has taken on a new dimension with the ability to connect with people in new ways. Who could ever have guessed that we would induct new members that no one had yet met in person? Now it is our younger new members that we look to injecting new energy into the club just as the rest of us did when we first became Rotarians. The pandemic has changed the world whether we like it or not, and despite all the heartache and devastation that it caused there was much for us to learn. We are the species on earth whose survival has depended on our ability to adapt. As they say: “The only thing that doesn't change is that things change”. My best wishes to Terry and his new committees to lead us forward. Thanks! Dave

Membership/Attendance: 51 Active members with 21 attending.
Guest(s): Stacy Drake (Dale's spouse), Beth O'Sullivan (John's spouse), Jed Walsh from the Onondaga County save the Rain Program and Dave DuBois, land steward at Baltimore Woods.
The Beginnings- After reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and singing America the Beautiful President Dave welcome our guests. Before dinner Dave DuBois and Dale and Stacey Drake spoke about the new handicapped accessible trail which was made possible by a multi club grant organized by Dale. Many of our club members worked on the trail last fall. The trail winds through the Faust Wildflower Garden with signage designed by Baltimore Woods . Several club members took a stroll down the path before dinner.
The Program -Jed Walsh from the Onondaga County Save the Rain Program was our guest speaker. Save the Rain started as a comprehensive stormwater management plan intended to reduce the amount of pollution that flows into Onondaga Lake and its tributaries. The program has received national and international recognition. Jed told us about the evolution of the program which began in response to a violation of the US Clean Water Act. Jed talked about the environmental, social and economic impact of the program and some of the technologies used in water management. The Club members asked a number of questions
The Ending: Roberta led us in the Four Way Test.
