PRESIDENT'S CORNER ... by Prez Bill
On Saturday, the first day of October (good luck, bow hunters!), we had a great turn out of volunteers for the construction of a new playground for the Town of Sennett. Members of both Skaneateles Rotary Clubs participated as well as Auburn Rotary Club folks. Not to put too much spin on it, but the majority of assembly was accomplished in the first half of Day One of the service project. Quite the productive morning, with no injuries! Thank you, one and all for your service and thank you, PP Pete Adams, for arranging this opportunity and handling all of the supporting logistics. A great day.
Hope to see everyone 'off campus' at Finger Lakes on Tap next Thursday.

Change from Beef & Skiff to Finger Lakes On Tap (Oct. 6th) - After Jim McQuiggan reported that Beak & Skiff increased their dinner charge by demanding a $300 cover charge, the members voted to have our October 6th meeting in the Finger Lakes On Tap Pub. Bill Conole volunteered to make the arrangements.
Sennett Town Park - Peter Adams reviewed plans for Saturday's Rotary Combined Service Project to build a playground in the Town of Sennett this Saturday & Sunday, Oct 1st &2nd/9AM--3PM.
Program - Dale Zabel introduced our Speaker Pastor Paula Roulette of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Pastor Roulette noted that she had a career as an industrial engineer before receiving a calling to enter the Lutheran Ministry in 1999. Before coming to Skaneateles Pastor Roulette served Lutheran Churches in Olean & Fairport.
Pastor Roulette presented a brief history of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. In 1913 the church was organized by Slovak Lutherans following a mass immigration of Slovaks to the US in the late 19th century. The West Genesee site was purchased in 1924. The church did not have a full time pastor until the Rev Vladimir Hibian was appointed in 1946. The first non Slovak pastor was appointed in 1993. Until 1983 most services were conducted in Slovak. The last Slovak service was held in 1992. Since 1924 the church has been remodeled & renovated several times.
Holy Trinity Church is actively involved in many outreach missions including the Phebe Hospital ,project in Africa, Skaneateles Meals on Wheels, The Lutheran Home in Clinton & many other local & regional charity projects. Since 2000 the church has operated Holy Trinity Preschool, the only Christian preschool in the community.
Last year congregation approved a major project that will enhance building accessibility. Pastor Roulette invited everyone o the Community Open House & annual "Soup's on Fundraiser on Saturday December 3rd. Pastor Roulette is pleased to be serving in Skaneateles.
