• November Board minutes were approved.  They may be found on the club's website.
• Officers & Directors for the 2019/2020 were discussed.  Two officer positions need to be filled, President Elect and Board Secretary.  Cathy Powell and Mary Giroux agreed to sharing the Board Secretary position as Dave Piper has decided to step down.  Dave's service is greatly appreciated and Cathy and Mary will attempt to fill his shoes.
• Roy Mac Donald resignation - The resignation of Roy MacDonald was regretfully accepted by the Board.  We will miss Roy's great contribution to the club's efforts and his ready smile.
• Valentine's Dinner Site - An alternative meeting site is needed for our Valentine's Day meeting on February 14th.  Suggestions from club members are welcome.
• Meeting Sites - The Sherwood will be doing extensive renovations in February and March,  Meeting sites for the following weeks are needed:  February 28 and March 7 and 14.
• Christmas Dinner - Bill Conole reported that funds raised and distributed from the Christmas dinner totaled $12,758.
• Bell Ringing Results - John Moran reported that our bell ringing efforts for the Salvation Army brought in $2,068.
• PC Breakfast Ticket Price - The Board approve a change in the adult ticket price for the Pancake Breakfast from $7 to $8.  Children's tickets remain the same.
• The Skaneateles Library requested our help in building and installing  two "little free libraries" for the community.  The project will begin in the late spring.
• Cash Flow - John Moran reported on the club's cash flow for the first six months of the year.
• The issue of having an "Inclement Weather" policy for club meetings was discussed and tabled.
• Worthy Cause distributions for the first six months of the year was reviewed.
• ClearPath grant for the Dogs2Vets program was discussed.  The goal is to have a multi club grant thereby enabling us to request increased matching funds from the District.
• PETS & Dist Conference - PETS Training and the Lake Placid meeting were reviewed,  See the newsletter for additional details.
• Thank You notes from the food pantries, the outreach program and the YMCA were read.

Who invented the light bulb?  No, it wasn’t Thomas Edison. Light bulbs were in use long before Edison applied for the patent in 1879. British inventor Humphry Davy invented an incandescent light bulb in 1801 and created the “arc lamp” in 1809. In 1835, Scottish inventor James Bowman Lindsay demonstrated a constant electric light in Dundee. In 1840, British scientist Warren de la Rue also demonstrated a light bulb. In 1841, British inventor Frederick DeMoleyns patented a light bulb and in 1844 American John Wellington Starr filed a U. S. patent caveat for an incandescent lamp. Many others would follow suit but none of the bulbs were effective for everyday use.  In 1872, Russian engineer Alexander Lodygin invented an incandescent light bulb for which was awarded a Russian patent in 1874. In 1877, William E. Sawyer developed a incandescent light in partnership with Albon Man. In the late 1870s, Hiram Stevens Maxim – who later, in 1884, invented the first fully automatic machine gun – developed a light bulb and in 1880 installed the first electric lights in a New York City building (the Equitable Life Building at 120 Broadway).
