PRESIDENTS' CORNER... by Pres., Bill Conole
SRC PRESIDENCY - In just two months on June 24thI will be handing over the gavel to our incoming president Doug Powell. I look forward to Doug’s presidency & I pledge to do everything I can assist President Doug. Some meeting, instead of talking about Millard Fillmore & Grover Cleveland I may speak on my 27 years in Rotary. During those 27 years I’ve served as president, in two clubs, for five years. Although my story may be mundane, I’d like to talk about how I came to join Rotary in 1992 & the two Rotarians who enlisted me. In 27 years, I’ve never casually missed a meeting, in fact by my reckoning, I have near perfect attendance. I’d like to talk about how I joined our Skaneateles Rotary Club & who enlisted me. Most of all I want to talk about why I’ve remained a Rotarian & how much Rotary’s mission & how much Rotarians mean to me. Would you rather hear about Fillmore & Cleveland?
SRC CENTENNIA - Recently an SRC member reminded me that in 8 short years our SRC will be celebrating it’s 100thAnniversary. Our club will have a great deal to celebrate.
PROGRAMS: Next week our program is “Sleep in Heavenly Peace”. This group builds beds for young people in CNY who lack beds. On May 2ndMary Giroux will have a planning session for our 2019 Pancake Breakfast. This is our club’s biggest fundraiser & a very large undertaking. Therefore I urge all of our members to please attend our May 2ndmeeting.

THE PROGRAM - Skaneateles Welcomes our Newest Member.
Amy Tormey, Membership Chair, presided over the induction of new Rotarian, Dr. James Wanamaker, who is being sponsored by Gard Lorey. James is a dentist practicing at Smiles Of Skaneateles, Amy encouraged us to stop and think why we became Rotarians. Gard gave Jim his Rotary pin, and President Bill Conole presented Jim with a plaque. Amy gave Jim his official badge, tee shirt, baseball cap, and his apron. President Conole thanked Gard for sponsoring Jim and commented that the evening was a memorable one for all of us.

On April 19th, we celebrate Paul Harris' birthday. He was born on 19 April 1868 in Racine, Ws. and was raised by in paternal grandparents in Wallingford, Vt. CLICK HERE to learn more about this visionary who founded Rotary International a 114 years ago in Chicago, Ill.
Skaneateles Rotary Club's 51st annual Father’s Day Pancake Breakfast is June 16th.Please also mark your calendars, for Friday, June 14th AM and Saturday, June 15th AM for set-up, and Monday, June 17thAM for tear down. This makes 51 consecutive years holding our Club’s biggest fund raising event and we need every Rotarian to participate to insure its continued success. Please schedule to be in town that weekend to help out at this “fun filled” community event! This service project, which supports many worthy causes, only works if every Rotarian makes a full commitment. Thank you for your support.
