Andy brought us up to date on Food Drive plans. The drive will benefit the Skaneateles and Spafford pantries. Communication is being developed and the plan is to hand out bags at the April 20th meeting. Bags will be collected and taken to Ed's house for sorting and delivery to the pantries. Watch on social media for more info. Our friends at Delmonico Insurance will also be collecting for the drive. Chuck Williams reported a "Dana Coye sighting" saying that Dana is doing well. After all, he is only 99! Bill B passed the tray for Happy $$'s and laughter and smiles ensued. The Program- Bill C introduced our guest speaker Sean O'Keefe. Sean's career is diverse and impressive: Secretary of the Navy, Director of OMB, Administrator of NASA. Chancellor of Louisiana State University and currently a professor at Syracuse University plus more. Sean is also a Skaneateles neighbor. "A humbling experience" is how Sean described his life in public service. He spoke of being in a meeting with the Vice President at the White House on September 11th, of being recruited for the NASA assignment to fix issues with the International Space Station, and of being at LSU when Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans. Sean reflected on these assignments saying that they involved dealing with "consequences of some event under disorienting circumstances". He spoke of common threads that disruptive events have in common and how working through these events leads to doing things differently. There were a number of questions which Sean responded to with thoughtful and insightful comments. Thank you to Sean O'Keefe for both a thought provoking presentation and your service to our nation. |
