The Program:Bill B introduced Dr Wulff and Jim Colon. Both Jim and Dr Wulff are key participants in the Operation Walk New York project. Operation Walk New York provides free surgical treatments to those who have no access to life-improving care for debilitating bone and joint conditions. The Syracuse based team has provided hip and knee replacements to underserved individuals both at home in Syracuse and abroad. The group of 40-50 medical personnel focuses on Ghana now where sickle cell anemia causes a condition that results in deterioration of hips and knees. Most patients are fairly young, in their twenties. The Syracuse based team has completed 14 missions with 722 hips and knees being replaced. Jim handles the complicated logistics end of things which includes amassing all needed supplies and equipment and arranging transportation of both people and necessary supplies/equipment. Operation Walk also works with local medical personnel to educate them on the treatment of hip and knee joint diseases. Each trip made by the Operation Walk team requires a minimum of $150,000 in fund raising. The team which is all volunteer covers all or some of their own travel expenses. You can learn more about this wonderful organization that is having life changing effects atoperationwalknewyork.org.
The Ending: Bill B led us in the (Four + one) Five Way Test.
