Attendees: Andy Stevens, Mary Giroux, Conner Finley, Rosemary Mondo, Doug Hill, Vince Magnotta and Bill Buterbaugh
Andy Stevens opened the meeting.
Minutes: Minutes of the previous meeting were approved.
Transition of Club Presidency: Ayham Boucher is stepping down as President. President Elect Andy Stevens is assuming the role of President. Ayham has assumed a number of new roles in his professional life which preclude him from being able to serve as President. We appreciate Ayham’s leadership and commitment to the club and welcome Andy as President.
Worthy Causes: The following expenditures were approved: new Books for the World pallet, sponsorship of an inbound or outbound exchange student to attend the district’s conference which will be held in April 2025, 50% of the cost of the Rotary ice sculpture for Winterfest 2025.
Rotary Signs: Rotary signs are on roads coming into the village. They are faded and do not have correct information on them. Andy volunteered to scout out the signs, determine what needs fixing/correction and report back to the board. In making any changes we will need to check with the Town and Village regarding their rules on signs.
Community Service Projects: The Holiday Basket Dinner planning is well under way. Marv Langley is leading this effort and will be holding a meeting with the committee soon to finalize things. Connor brought up the Tops bell ringing project and discussed changing our club’s efforts to help the Chamber. Connor will reach out to the Chamber to see what the sign-up process is and also let Tops know that we will not be ringing the bell at Tops.
Club Website: The website contains some outdated and incorrect information regarding the calendar. A webmaster is needed to make updates. Several suggestions were made, and these will be pursued.
Rotary Foundation: Goals for the 2024-2025 Rotary year were approved as follows:
Rotary Foundation - $100 per active member plus $1500 from the club. Based on current membership this is $7600 for the year.
Polio Plus - $2000
Bill Buterbaugh will speak at the November 21 club meeting and will also be mailing letters to club members.
New Member Acquisition and Retention: Tom Harvard, friend of Ayham, is a potential new member.
New Business: Two new issues were brought up: International project/giving and resumption of the “front desk” for meetings. The “front desk” would be the check in/payment for meetings and would also issue a name badge. This would help members get to know newer and existing members better. The duty would rotate from member to member each meeting. Discussion on both these issues will continue.
Next meeting: January 2, 2025 at The Sherwood at 5:00.
