Before dinner President Cheryl briefly reviewed our Program Schedule through June 30th.
Amy Tormey announced that our "Spring Fling" [Retention & Recruiting Meeting] meeting will be held in the beautiful Welch Allyn Lodge on May 19th.
Our Exchange Students are now going to present on May 26th. Cheryl reminded everyone that the District Conference is only a week away.
Lori Ruhlman introduced our speaker Skaneateles Central Schools, SCS, Superintendent Ken Slentz by noting that Ken is a potential Rotarian. Ken replied that he has detected a , not so subtle, recruiting effort by Amy & Lori. Ken clearly, concisely & compellingly, reviewed the 2016-2017 Skaneateles School District Budget. Ken first emphasized the importance of SCS's mission. Ken gave each of the budget's four major provisions close attention. Ken clarified several complex , technical aspects of the budget. Overall the budget calls for a modest 1.03% anticipated tax levy increase. Ken praised his staff for skillfully sorting out ways to increase revenue & decrease expenditures. Ken is confident that this year's budget will continue to enhance learning opportunities for our students. After Ken completed his budget overview more than half of the members present asked detailed questions on various aspects of the budget & SCS's programs.

OUR 2015-16 ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE
LONG TERM EXCHANGE PROGRAM
Outbound - The 2015-16 Rotary Youth Exchange Outbound students have departed for a year as exchange students abroad. Sofia Darovskikh, to Finland, and Zach Driscoll to Germany. We wish them all the best on their "adventure of a lifetime".
Inbound - student have moved to their third host families: Vincent , from France, hosted by Mike & Mary Hearn, and Daniela from Chile, hosted by Alice & Gerry Purdy.
SHORT TERM EXCHANGE PROGRAM (STEP)
Hope Glowacki has spent a few weeks in Sicily, Italy and her host sister, Irene returned with her to Skaneateles for a few weeks.
Adrianna Marshall traveled to Thuringia, Germany and his host sister, Constanze, returned to Skaneateles for an exchange.
