Greetings Skantarians! Thank you one and all to those who attended this past Thursday for your patience and presence and hats off to David Lee for putting it all together. The Eagle Scout induction ceremony was very much a huge moment in the Scouts' lives and it was an honor to participate as witnesses to their joining such a select group. As a reminder, our Club sponsors and supports this Troop and represents a fine example of what our financial contributions do in our community; in this spirit I urge all to contribute to the Rotary Foundation. We are half way through our year and it would be great to hit our fundraising goals early. Board meeting this coming week - see you all afterwards! Thank you.

Rotary International was one of 42 organizations invited to serve as consultant to the U.S. delegation to the United Nations Conference on International Organization in San Francisco in 1945. Each organization had seats for three representatives —one "consultant" and two "associate consultants." Rotary International's eleven representatives served three at a time, in rotation.

The Beginnings: Prior to dinner, David Lee welcomed our members and guests to a special evening where our club has the privilege of hosting Eagle Court of honor. David noted that, since it's inception over 80 years ago our club has sponsored Skaneateles Boy Scout Troop 61.
Skantarian Readership: Ward reminded everyone to please read our information filled Skantarian to stay abreast of club news. Last week, to spur readership, Ward hid an offer of a free wine stopper to the first club member who spotted the offer & emailed him. Ward said the first email he received was from Suzanne Hutchinson at 1:30 AM. To loud applause Ward presented Suzanne with tie wine stopper.
Boy Scout Eagle Ceremony: After dinner David Lee welcomed Nicholas Paciorek, Troop 61 Patrol Leader [SPL] to initiate the Eagle Scout Court Over eighty guests filled the room to capacity to observe his special ceremony. See Lori Ruhlman's excellent summary of the formal proceedings of the Eagle Scout Court & the induction of four exceptional young Skaneateles men into the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout on ourWebsite.
The young men & the Scout Leaders of Skaneateles Troop 61 conducted the Eagle Court ceremony with solemn pomp & precision. At the close of the ceremony all four newly minted Eagle Scouts, Rex Ramsguard, Dan O'Connell, Christopher Niehbuhr & Jim O'Connell eloquently expressed their gratitude to everyone who helped them grow in scouting & to their parents, their community & to their parents for guiding them to become Eagle Scouts.
David Penfield the Scoutmaster & Master of Ceremonies [MC] noted that since 1923 Troop 61 has awarded the Eagle Rank to a remarkable 130 of it's members. This outstanding number truly reflects well on our Skaneateles Community & on our Rotary Club's steadfast support of Troop 61. The pageantry of this Eagle Scout Court ceremony moved everyone in attendance. Most of all it reaffirmed our faith in the young men in our community who are being molded to become our leaders in the future.
