Rotary Youth Exchange changes lives -- for the students who go abroad and for the people who welcome them into their homes.
Here are our two in-bounds from this year, along with two of our three Skaneateles students who will go abroad in August.
In August, Skaneateles will get THREE NEW EXCHANGE STUDENTS through Rotary.  Each student needs three families (each family will host 3-4 months). Hosting is a rich experience.  Interested in having a new son or daughter for part of next year?
For details, contact Gard Lorey at 727-5461, Lee Bennett at 730-4000, or Lori Ruhlman at

PANCAKE BREAKFAST - ALMOST THERE! .....
by Chuck O'Neil, Chair ; Mary Giroux, Vice-Chair
Believe it or not, the annual Father's Day Pancake Breakfast is only 2 weeks away! Father's Day this year is June 19th, so please mark that date in ink on your calendar, as well as Friday, June 17th AM and Saturday, June 18th AM for set-up, and Monday, June 20th AM afterwards for tear down. This year will mark our 48th consecutive year holding our Club's biggest fund raising event and we need every Rotarian to participate to insure its continued success! Our event has raised cumulatively over $500,000 since our first Breakfast in 1968, adjusted for inflation! So please schedule to be in town that weekend to help out at this "fun filled" community event! This service project, which supports many worthy causes, only works if every Rotarian makes a full commitment!
Pancake Ticket Sales Schedule - The TOPS pancake ticket sales schedule is posted on our website.  From the Home page, goto the Site Pages on the left and click on Pancake Breakfast, where you will find the 2016 Ticket Sales link.  Click-on it and you will download the schedule.  The openings are highlighted in yellow. ... by Ward

Youth Exchange Student's Reflections
Daniela [Danny]  Fadic - our exchange student from Chile, spoke about her year in Skaneateles. Danny arrived in Skaneateles last August on her birthday. Danny thanked her host families for their warm hospitality. Danny's host families took  her to Lake Placid. Ottawa, Niagara Falls, DC & Disney World. Danny noted that in the US we celebrate holidays like Halloween, Thanksgiving & Christmas differently than they do in Chile. During our recent Rotary District Conference Danny had the opportunity to visit with other Rotary Exchange Students from 19 countries. For her presentation Danny wore a coat covered with decorative pins. Danny explained that every time she met another exchange student or Rotarian she swapped ins with them. Danny closed by thanking our club for enabling her to spend a year in our great country & in our beautiful welcoming town. Danny responded to several member questions.
Vincent [Vinnie] Lambert - our exchange student from France opened his presentation by exclaiming "this has been the best year of my life!" Vincent was only 15 when he arrived in the US. Vincent confessed to having second thoughts about coming to the US. All of Vincent's initial concerns were quickly swept away by the warm welcome he received in Skaneateles. From the start Vincent fell in love with America's lifestyle & culture. Vincent thanked his 3 host families for their generosity, & for making him feel as if he was part of their families. Vincent joined Danny in thanking our club for making his visit to the US & Skaneateles possible. Vincent said he will always treasure his memories of our beautiful lake & welcoming village.
Karen [Kayo] Price - Speaking on behalf of SCS, Karen Price praised Danny & Vincent for so freely sharing their cultures with our high school students. Karen said Danny & Vincent will be missed.
Guests: Jerry, Alice & Allison Purdy--host family, Mary, Sophie & Julia Hern, host family, Emily Norris, Emma Bohr, John Hall, Kelly Hall, prospective member,
