LAST MEETING, May 30th.... by Mary Giroux
The Beginning:President Doug opened the meeting by leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance and welcoming our guests:
> Guests: Bradley and Kelley Wilson, Corey Bond Bauman and Larry Jerome. Larry is set to be inducted in our club on June 13th. We hope Bradley, Kelley and Corey will join our club also! They have already volunteered to help at the Pancake Breakfast!
Announcements:
> Thank you notes: Doug read a nice thank you note from the Legion for our support of Boy's State. Bill B conveyed the thanks of Dana Coye's family for his 100th birthday celebration.
> Schedule of Meetings: Bill also reviewed the upcoming schedule of meetings. (see PROGRAMS/SPEAKERS below) June 6th will be our Happy Hour at the Legion and we will meet at The Sherwood on June 13th to finalize preparations for the Pancake Breakfast.
Club Assembly:The following club business was discussed:
> Interact Club: Lee told us about the restart of the Interact Club. After the passing of Karen Price and the pandemic the club became inactive. Our Board agreed to bring the club back and support it. There is an advisor for the club at the high school and Lee is acting as the liaison with the club. Lee is asking that a few club members join him as an advisory committee dedicated to the Interact Club. Please contact Lee if you are interested. Lee's email is: fatherskan@aol.com.
> Youth Exchange: We have a young woman who will be in the 2024/2025 Youth Exchange program. Jay asked club members to reach out to community members for host families. Right now, there is one family signed up, but two more families are needed. Contact Jay at jstith@healthstrategyassoc.comwith any leads.
> Pancake Breakfast update: John Moran asked that checks be sent to Jay for ticket sales. Since we have many up-front expenses, it is important that funds be turned in as soon as possible. Checks should be payable to the Skaneateles Rotary Foundation. Mary filled us in on the status of yard signs (Chuck O will put up this weekend), posters (Marv is working on this), and supply orders (Bill B is on top of this). Club members have been provided with assignments for June 16th and should contact Mary if there are any changes needed. Also, a request for strong bodies will be made for equipment moving on Friday, June 14th and Monday, June 17th.
> Community Service Projects: Bill B updated us on the Community Service projects. Polo for Preemies (Crouse Hospital) is asking for our club's help on Sunday, July 28th from 11:00 to 4:30. Ayham is coordinating this project and will provide additional information as the date draws near. Bill asked for ideas from club members for an August project.
> The Rotary Foundation -Bill B also reminded us that the year is drawing to a close and that anyone who has not made a donation to the Rotary Foundation is encouraged to do so.
The Ending:Doug led us in the (Four + one) Five Way Test.
