Annual Christmas Benefit, Dec. 12th
... by Cheryl Silvestrini
The Skaneateles Rotary Club’s Annual Christmas Benefit will be held on  Thursday, December 12th, at the Skaneateles Country Club.  We will begin with a happy hour at 6 p.m. followed by a family-style turkey dinner at 7 pm.  Purchase your tickets through Amy Tormey @ $30 each [not later than Dec. 4th].  Amy is encouraging that tables be purchased for 8 or 10 guests.  Her phone number is: ‭(315) 559-1549‬ and email:  amy.a.tormey@gmail.com .  Check make payable to the Skaneateles Rotary Foundation.
Don’t Forget…The organizing committee needs our Rotarians’ support in securing raffle prizes.  The goal is to have at least 50% of attendees win a prize. While local merchants and professionals will be canvassed again this year for donations, all Rotarians are also asked to donate prizes such as a bottle of wine, a gift card, etc.  Please let Mary Giroux mfgiroux0614@gmail.com know in advance of the event what you will be bringing in the way of a prize.  Even if you can’t attend the event, please contribute a raffle prize.
Rotary Foundation receives highest rating from Charity Navigator for 11th year.  ... by Rotary International
For the 11th consecutive year, The Rotary Foundation has received the highest rating — four stars — from Charity Navigator, an independent evaluator of charities in the U.S.
The Foundation earned the recognition for demonstrating both strong financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency.
“We are extremely honored to be recognized,” says Foundation Trustee Chair Ron Burton. “It represents the hard work and dedication of countless Rotarians throughout the world.  They know their gifts will be used for the purpose for which they were given and that they will, indeed, make a real difference.”
The rating reflects Charity Navigator's assessment of how the Foundation uses donations, sustains its programs and services, and practices good governance and openness.

MAKING UP... by Ward Vuillemot
Making-up in Rotary-talk, is not about making-up with a lost friend, is about visiting other Rotary clubs in your immediate area, or in other parts of the country, or in the world as you travel for pleasure or business.  It is a wonderful opportunity to meet many interesting Rotarians and to make new lasting acquaintances, and glean new and interesting ideas for projects to bring back to our club.  I have traveled to many places in our world in my professional life and as a tourist, and have visited Rotary clubs on those trips when ever the opportunity has been available.  As a result, I have life long friends around the world.  During my business travels, I seldom spent a weekend alone camped out in a lonely hotel room as my new found Rotary friends shared the part of the world with me,  and I have learned more about Rotary and it many wonderful works than I could in a lifetime of local club meetings.  Try it, you'll like it.
The home page of the Rotary International website at: https://www.rotary.org/en has a link at the top of the page entitled Club Finder.  Simply click on it an follow the simple instructions and you can locate any one of the over 33,000 Rotary clubs in our world, along with their meeting location, day of the week and time. There is even an apt for your smart phone to find a Rotary club.
Don't leave on a trip without exploring this option.  Remember to carry one of our club banners to trade.  See our club president for one prior to leaving.
Attendance Make-up.   These visits also count toward you club attendance requirements.  Should you have a question as to how to report the visit as a Make-up, please check out our website home page under Site Pages (on left side of the page) and click on Attendance Make-up procedure.  CLICK-HERE of a quick link there to the procedures.
Remember to report your “make ups” to Ward Vuillemot ASAP. You can email him at wardtv37@mac.com   It is important to report the date,
Now, step out of your Rotary comfort zone and Make Up and discover the wide world of Rotary.
REPORTING A MAKE-UP
Ward reminds us that make-ups must be reported to him via email or noted on the back of you dinner card to receive the proper credit.  He does not automatically apply them.  YOU MUST take the action to let him know the "when & where" to be credited for attendance make-up.  His email is: wardtv37@mac.com
To learned more about attendance make-ups, visit our web-site, Site Pages and click-on Attendance make-up procedure.
